Exit Velo #89: NLCS Preview

Back Sports Page presents a new episode of the Exit Velo podcast with your hosts Adam Cohen and Maxwell Runde.

Adam and Maxwell go over the highlights of the Wild Card series, the Division series, the first two games of the American League Championship series, and preview the National League Championship series. The New York Yankees and Gerrit Cole are blasted for their World Series drought and their poor performance in the playoffs. The Tampa Bay Rays are also criticized for their weak rotation and stable of (relief) horses ending the American League’s favorites season. However, the St. Louis Cardinals are praised for arguably the best game of the postseason and handling their own against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Nevertheless, Adam and Maxwell are both confused as to why Mike Shildt was fired, and discuss the manager pool for the 2022 season. Meanwhile, they are both shocked that the Chicago White Sox and Milwaukee Brewers were steamrolled by the Houston Astros and Atlanta Braves, respectively. The duo also issued their frustrations about the teams left in the playoff race and both want the Atlanta Braves to come out on top. Yet, since the Braves will face the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLCS, the two baseball fanatics have their doubts about Freddie Freeman’s and Ronald Acuna Jr.’s team moving past the 106-win juggernaut.
